I believe the court has a duty here. While the print media struggles for survival, not because it is any less a conduit of information that has turned phrases of information into entertainment, but because it takes a longer time to distribute.
We are a nation starved for entertainment now, and that obsession has turned the public service of legitimate news away from its obligations to a public service into a competition for the last man standing. It is time the courts remind the entire media industry the harm it causes when legitimate news is packaged into a vat of sour juice to assess its impact on public emotion and bias, not that it has served the public intellect.
