Opinion | Garland’s mushy speech to Harvard grads does not inspire confidence, a WAPO editorial of 5-11-22, and on that date the Enlighten Prisoner commented thus:

In September 1983, James Q. Wilson, a Political Scientist wrote the book, "Thinking About Crime". His summary paragraph at the end still provides one of the best lessons we have yet to learn.

"Wicked people exist. Nothing avails except to set them apart from innocent people. And many people, neither wicked nor innocent, but watchful, dissembling, and calculating of their opportunities, ponder our reaction to wickedness as a cue to what they might profitably do. We have trifled with the wicked, made sport of the innocent, and encouraged the calculators. Justice suffers, and so do we all!"

Group doorbells homes across Washington, searching for illegal voters, and drawing complaints reported by the Seattle Times, and on 5-30-22, the Enlightened Prisoner commented thus:

This non-official group of MAGA misfits, unable to accept what certified numbers have told them, and totally unsuccessful in court challenges are now becoming redesigned neighborhood busy body squads to spread their continuing propaganda message that government is dishonest and can't be trusted. Well, guess what? That's just exactly what this last election was attempting to fix. The trouble is the losing side is apparently slow learners. I know their MAGA boss is.

In first test after mass shootings, Senate GOP poised to block domestic terror bill, a WAPO analysis of the Senate legislation, and on 5-26-22, the Enlightened Prisoner commented thus:

"Republicans argued that the bill, which would set up domestic terrorism offices across three federal agencies, was unnecessary and that Democrats are trying to score political points."

If you wanted proof that there's a total obstructionist intent with everything the Republican MAGA cult members put their political foot on, look no further. Lacking any program alternative, or logical argument, the party cult members have little but vain excuses to offer for their pathetic existence. They really need to be voted out of a place at our governmental table.

Inside the Republican push to stop Trump’s ‘vendetta tour’ in Georgia, a WAPO article, and on 5-22-22, the Enlightened Prisoner commented thus:

I don't get it, Trump keeps making rash, rude, character assassination comments about US Citizens who have done little but oppose his "values", and the media continues to afford them publicity without benefit of challenge or verification. We have regulatory rules that prevent publishers from certain offensive content but give license to public media that's being used for naught but listener provocation for sales promotion? And they don't care about the effect that has on civilized behavior? How crass is that?

On 2-24-22, in a letter to the Editor of the Shelton Mason County Journal, the Enlightened Prisoner wrote thus:

It was the mouth of Trump that caused the consternation and inadequate responses to our pandemic, his mouth that set-in motion the riotous insurrection against our house of government, his mouth that has put party politics as a power struggle rather than a negotiated means of governmental administration, his mouth that has made the art of lying, backbiting, character assassination, and unsophisticated leadership talk the stuff of today's unhinged politicians.

Federal Judge Amit Mchta, last week, ruled in his published judicial opinion document that the civil damages charge against Former President Trump for causing the January 6th riot actions, damage and personal assaults may proceed.  And in that ruling he stated the following:

"After all, the President's actions here do not relate to his duties of faithfully executing the laws, conducting foreign affairs, commanding the armed forces, or managing the Executive Branch," Mehta added. "They entirely concern his efforts to remain in office for a second term. These are unofficial acts, so the separation-of-powers concerns that justify the President's broad immunity are not present here."

His troubles are Trump's own making and retribution is coming.  Meanwhile, it's up to us the informed electorate to recover from this era of unhinged politics by selection of candidates that represent the values represented in our governing documents, not the words of candidates using false agendas for finding fault and hate as their platform of performance.  This is not a time to engage in the obdurate behavior for petty party politics of obstruction for the sake of power.

Our Country’s strength for opportunity and economic stability has come this far out of respect for being a country of laws, not personages.

Only 22 people saw the Buffalo shooting live. Millions have seen it since said WAPO in an article about the Buffalo shooter's video clip of his murdering saga showing up on social media and the Enlightened Prisoner on 5-16-22, responded thus:

“The purpose of terrorism is always to reach the greatest number of people possible with the most horrific or spectacular attack that you can perform.”

Kind of like a Trump MAGA Rally where he spews unchallenged falsehoods and attacks his hated American of the week.

Supreme Court agrees with Cruz, strikes campaign contribution restriction says WAPO and the Enlightened Prisoner comments thus:

"A case brought by Ted Cruz is a huge boon to rich candidates and moneyed lobbyists."

Gee, I wish I'd said that but, it was said by a legitimate news source who had done their homework and the analysis necessary to back up their claim.

How does this SCOTUS figure they are protecting the electorate when they open the door to an unrestricted back door of money donations that doesn't come from a person but an entity?

Ukraine regains territory, and crime scene investigators move in, a story in WAPO and the Enlightened Prisoner comments thus on 5-12-22:

A supposed Russia army enters a neighboring county for purposes of "liberating" them. Overcome by resistance to their mission they retreat leaving behind anti-personnel mines and booby-trapped explosives. Now, on its face, aren't those the tactics of a totally cowardly criminal endeavor.

There's an embarrassing absence of world community condemnation and political reaction here.

Washington Post wins Pulitzer Prize of public service for Jan. 6 coverage and on 5-10-22, the Enlightened Prison commented thus:

Hopefully future Historians will take note that in one of the United States' darkest hours it was the efforts of an independent press that exposed and gave transparency to an inspired effort by a disgraced President to create and incite a coup attempt to overthrow his legal dismissal by a vote of a concerned electorate. Thank you WAPO staff.

Inside Mark Meadows’s final push to keep Trump in power, a WAPO article and on 5-8-22, the Enlightened Prisoner commented thus:

"Meadows, a former restaurant owner in rural North Carolina and later a real estate developer."

The Trump Administration kept reaching down for totally unqualified and unethical personnel to grease their governmental wheels. Two-faced and morally corrupt, Mark Meadows' only conceptional purpose in his government assignment was to stir the pot and twist arms. All that while being paid with our hard-earned tax monies. How easily the simple are led.

Perspective | Herschel Walker’s insulting campaign is the worst kind of sports idolatry, a WAPO editorial of 5-6-22, and the Enlightened Prisoner commented thus:

Something to ponder. The United States has become a place where entertainers and professional athletes are mistaken for people of importance.

I've needed a doctor; I've needed a teacher; and I've needed farmers every day. There are occasions I've needed an auto mechanic, a plumber, a house painter and a lot of other everyday people.

But I have never, not even once, needed a pro athlete, a media personality, or a Hollywood entertainer for anything!

In short, stop making useless people famous.

Opinion of WAPO Editorial writer Jenifer Rubin that:| The Jan. 6 hearings should follow 5 basic rules. And on 5-1-22, the Enlightened Prisoner commented thus:

The public hearings of the January 6th Committee are about to become grounds for the greatest propaganda assault from the MAGA cult of news journalists and headline-seeking politicians yet. Like the impeachments of Trump, the well- deserved efforts of those who sought and presented evidence of complicity (in the current chaos) will find their intentions and character assassinated by the most irreverently rude irrelevancies we cannot yet imagine.

We the public would do well to remember that as electoral jury members our obligation is to listen closely and evaluate the motives of those offering the words to determine their evidence value.

It's about letting the evidence speak for itself. Not your emotions, not your political affiliations, not your religious beliefs, and certainly not your pre-ordained opinions. As members of our club of community democracy, you are the determiners of truth.

Maybe you didn't swear to it but, we are all citizens committed to protect our Nation and its Constitution (Not its political leadership) from those enemies, foreign....and domestic.
